Army Ranger Callum Wilkie received the Soldier’s Medal for his heroic rescue of climber Chris Zwierzynski nearly a year after he fell from a 500+ foot drop on Mount Hood.
He and his partner stayed by Zwierzynski’s side for six hours to stabilize his injuries until a rescue team arrived, and Zwierzynski attended the ceremony at JBLM.
The city was ordered to pay over $1.5 million in legal fees after a 13-year court battle over its ban on public access to Oswego Lake through local parks.
The ruling ends long-running legal disputes about the city's right to control lake access.
