- ➤ By the end of summer, Mayor Keith Wilson said the city will have 630 new shelter beds from his promised 1,500—he expects to have all 1,500 beds by Dec 1. KGW

- ➤ The West Linn 12U Select team won its first World Series game with a 6-3 score over Easton in Branson, Missouri on Aug. 11, ending a 17-game losing streak — the team will play Puerto Rico at 9 a.m. today in the Iron Man bracket.
