COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Lake Oswego residents welcomed the new Recreation and Aquatics Center that opened June 16 at 17525 Stafford Road next to Lakeridge High School. The facility features two pools—one 12-lane competition pool and one rec pool with slides and splash areas—as well as a gym, fitness studio and weight room built with ADA compliance and energy efficiency in mind.  West Linn Tidings

CULTURE NEWS

  • Chef Gregory Gourdet, a three-time James Beard Award winner, shared his top three local restaurants he loves for quality food and unique style—each spot known for its friendly service and memorable dishes. He hopes his picks will guide local diners to great meals in the area.  KGW
  • The Lakewood Theatre Company will show Dracula from Sept. 12 to Oct. 19 at Lakewood Center for the Arts, with the play giving a modern twist to the classic tale by featuring Count Dracula as a charming villain and a detective Van Helsing. The center will also host a Dracula Blood Drive on Sept. 3 from 12-5 p.m.—donors will get $5 off ticket prices.  West Linn Tidings

  • Oregon lawmakers will vote on Governor Kotek’s transportation bill today—affecting taxpayer, trucking, road and gas taxes—and the decision is expected to impact local roads and services.  KPTV
