COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Gwen Foley, 94, has taught adaptive swimming for decades and helped people with disabilities gain confidence, mobility, and joy in the water—her work continues to inspire local swimmers today.  KGW

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Oregon Zoo announced that fan favorite Nora will leave for Wisconsin’s Henry Vilas Zoo this fall to help boost the polar bear population—she will later meet a potential mate—while the zoo welcomes playful Kallik from St. Louis Zoo.  KGW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Stafford Road will reopen to traffic on Oct. 1 after months of closure that forced drivers to take detours. Clackamas County is improving the roadway—adding a roundabout at Childs Road, realigning Johnson Road, and widening for bike lanes—while planning targeted closures in parts of 2026.  West Linn Tidings
  • Clackamas County signed a letter that backs Marion County’s request for clear rules on immigration enforcement — the measure comes after Marion County filed a lawsuit on Aug. 1 over five immigration subpoenas, and fifteen counties have joined in backing the effort. The letter seeks a detailed legal opinion to resolve conflicts between federal, state, and public records laws.  West Linn Tidings
