- ➤ Several local events are planned for October in Lake Oswego, West Linn and Wilsonville. Lake Oswego will host its Farmers’ Market from Oct. 4th through Oct. 25th at Millennium Plaza Park, the 11th annual Wine Walk on Oct. 4th from 1 to 5 p.m., and the Wellness Fair on Oct. 12th from 2 to 5 p.m., while West Linn will celebrate the remodeled Historic City Hall on Oct. 2nd and Wilsonville will hold its Fall Harvest Festival on Oct. 18th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.—offering residents many ways to gather. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ New labor laws took effect Friday to protect workers by banning age inquiries during interviews, expanding paid leave, and allowing the use of sick time for blood donations—measures put in place as the labor bureau received extra funding to clear a backlog of wage theft cases. Lawmakers strengthened worker protections at a time when Oregon's minimum wage saw its smallest rise in a decade. West Linn Tidings
- ➤ U.S. Rep. Maxine Dexter demanded action after a Portland mother and her four children were detained by ICE for 12 days following a visit to the U.S.—Canada border, and she said she struggled to locate the family to address concerns over detention practices. KGW
