  • Unite 4 Democracy is organizing a protest in Lake Oswego on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Organizer Steve Friedland expects more people than the 2,000 from the June protest + police are coordinating to keep the event peaceful.  West Linn Tidings

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ODOT is quickly hiring seasonal and permanent staff for winter road maintenance after the transportation bill passed and a hiring freeze left hundreds of positions open—this effort includes accepting applicants without experience and offering training while the State Senate will soon vote on a bill that raises registration fees to fund upcoming road work.  KPTV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Gov. Tina Kotek announced COVID-19 vaccine rules two weeks ago and some lawmakers questioned if Oregon moved fast enough to secure access. State Sen. Lisa Reynolds may propose new legislation for 2026 or later—while critics note that the West Coast Health Alliance formed in early September to safeguard vaccine supply.  West Linn Tidings

  • The West Linn girls cross country team won a 13-team meet yesterday at Clackamas Community College with a team score of 51 points—Eleanor Wyatt finished second overall and the team will run in the Rose City Championship on Oct.10.  West Linn Tidings
