- ➤ High school boys and their mothers from the Lake Oswego Chapter of the Young Men’s Service League volunteered at Family Promise of Tualatin Valley on October 13 to donate school supplies and help with a Hot Wheels event—teaching empathy as part of their four-year program. The group, which also includes participants from West Linn, Wilsonville, Tigard and Portland, committed to at least 20 hours of service to build strong community ties. West Linn Tidings
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Union health care workers at Kaiser Permanente will start a strike today and continue it until Oct. 19 as they protest low staffing and wages—hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies will stay open though some appointments may move online. Kaiser says it plans to hire extra staff to cover shortages, while union members report pay remains below market standards. KGW
