If you follow Laker athletics, Saturday evening was the big one. Top-ranked Lake Oswego finished the regular season 20-4, and No. 2 Newberg finished 16-8. Our reports were written before the final, so we don't have the score.

Newberg got there with a 9-4 win over Lakeridge Saturday morning at the in Beaverton. The Tigers last reached the final in 2024, when they lost 12-9 to the Lakers.

The Timbers clinched a playoff spot with a 2-⁠0 win at Austin FC on Saturday

If you root for the Timbers, you've got postseason soccer. Portland beat Austin FC 2-0 Saturday night to take the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference. It was the team's fourth straight win and its third straight playoff berth.

Sixteen years is a long time to work on one movie. LAIKA spent that long developing “Wildwood”, a stop-motion film that turns real-life Portland streets and woods into a magical world. At 2 hours and 12 minutes, it's the longest stop-motion animated film ever released. Worth the wait, we'd say.
